Preventive Dental Care
Some of the most important work we do is preventing dental issues. Regular preventive care keeps your mouth healthy, and allows us to detect potential issues and treat them before they become painful and expensive problems.
Comprehensive Dental Exams
Comprehensive and routine periodic dental exams allow us to diagnose and treat issues in the early stages, so the treatments are less invasive and less costly. Our comprehensive dental exam includes:
- Intraoral and extraoral exam
- Diagnostic radiographs (x-rays)
- Periodontal screening to check for gum disease
- Oral cancer screening
Digital Radiographs (X-Rays)
We use digital radiographs routinely, as prescribed by Dr. Hite, to adequately diagnose any problems. We are able to enlarge and contrast the image to get a magnified view of problem areas, which allowing us to make a more accurate diagnosis.
We have an intraoral camera for high resolution images of your teeth. The camera is about the size of our other dental instruments, and allows us to show you what we are seeing. This is a good way to help you better understand any issues so you can make informed decisions about your care.
Oral Cancer Screenings
Early detection of oral cancer is vital to effective treatment. We do routine oral cancer screenings to detect cancer in the earliest stages, which leads to a much better prognosis.
If you or your kids play contact sports, we highly recommend using a mouth guard. It prevents teeth from being broken or knocked out.
You can buy over-the-counter mouth guards that you boil to somewhat fit to your teeth, but those can be bulky and uncomfortable. We recommend a custom-fit mouth guard that’s sleek, effective, and comfortable. (For kids, this helps ensure they actually wear them.) Our mouth guards meet all high school and collegiate sports regulations.
